Fishing on the Umpqua and our stay at River Vista Vacation Homes

Well, I have to start with the catch of the day!!! This was on Friday and yes, that is my husband!!! This is a female steelhead which is part of the trout family which likes to behave like a salmon. Because she is a native, she was returned to the river to make more babies and keep the species alive.

But I can tell you that the fisherman was extremely excited!!!!

That is his brother on the left above and below is his fishing guide, Glenn Hall from HawgQuest. He was the host of our very favorite fishing show. Every Sunday morning at 9:30 you would find us watching HawgQuest!!! If the phone rang during the show it was NOT answered!!!

It was just half a day fishing trip with Glenn on Friday, but so fun for the brothers!!!!

We stayed at the River Vista Vacation Homes, in Idleyld Park, Oregon. If you click on the link to River Vista Vacation Homes you can see some of the photos of what the cabins look like from the outside. The cabin we rented was the Madrone.

Here are the inside pics, a little messy because four of us moved in for 2 days and brought enough clothes and food for a week!!!

This was a great place to just sit and watch the river go by. The seat
actually folds out and becomes a twin bed.

Here is the living room. There is wifi and Dish, so tv is
available. Phone service is
sketchy, but texting worked just fine-we have AT&T.
The larger couch folds out to be a queen bed.

Here is the fully equipped kitchen, excuse the mess, as I
said, we were all moved in at this point in time.

Here is the loft upstairs complete with a queen bed

And one (messy) bedroom with a queen bed
View from the bedroom

There's one bathroom with a shower. We didn't have any problems sharing the bathroom between the four of us.

Oh, and I brought our little dog. You do need to be careful as the cabins are probably 15 or so feet above the river and it is a swift strong river this time of year. Bailey was kept on a leash at all times when we were outside.

Looks like someone needs a nap!!!
Anyway, it was a fun two days!! Thank you Randy, we enjoyed our stay and the guys enjoyed meeting Glenn!!!
